Some notes on the forthcoming AGM and Committee elections.

Notice of the AGM on 24th September has been given on Tuesday Club nights, in the newsletter, and now on the web site.
The AGM is not stuffy at all (I may shoot anyone who says "point of order"), or very long, and there are free sandwiches and chips.
To help move things along, we will publish the minutes of the 2012 AGM on the web site shortly, and any other reports that we have in time, so I may not allow much time for reading them in the actual meeting (be warned!)

Of course one of the most important parts of the AGM (besides the free chips) is determining the IH Committee for the next year. There is a nomination form on the web site Committee page but of course you can also make a nomination by word of mouth to Paul Stephens, the Club Secretary. But do make sure the person you are nominating is willing, please.

If you are a potential nominee and want to find out more about the job, please see the Commitee Job Descriptions on the Committee page and do have a chat to Paul Stephens, Beth Massey, or any Committee member about what's involved.

The Constitution (there is a copy on the Committee page) requires 4 officers (Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary plus up to 9 officers). There is a happy flexibiity over the role of Captains on the Committee: as there are now 6 or more they could make up most of the Committee, and that would starve the Committee of 'ordinary' members. And we have had some very good Captains who cannot get to meetings and who we might not have had if we had insisted on meeting attendance. So we expect input and monthly reports from all Captains but do not make them all 'Committee Members' as that would obligate them to attend meetings (though they are still welcome, like any member, at any meeting). I think this flexible arrangement works and is worth preserving!

At last night's Committee meeting I solicited a number of nominations for posts to get the ball rolling. Remember it is fine to have more than one nomination for a position as there will be 'elections' at the AGM, so don't consider that any position is 'taken' and do feel free to nominate a willing member for any position. As nominations come in we will update the list here to help members spot gaps and get some nominations made!

Updates 17 Sep: Helen Horton is nominated as a Committee member, Val Kerr is nominated as joint ladies fell captain
Updates 9 Sep: Shirley is nominated for a post on the Committee (we need a junior representative).
And our excellent membership secretary Emma is happy to continue.

Jane Bryant has been nominated as Chair, so now we mainly need a nomination for ladies XC Captain please!

Still looking for a ladies XC Captain - important as the Xc season is starting soon.
