The Ilkley Moor Fell Race

The Ilkley Moor fell race has been staged by Ilkley Harriers every February since 1990 (except in Foot and Mouth year, when it was one of the the first races to be stopped, and one of the first races to be re-scheduled, in November). It is a hard category 'A' fell race, not suitable for beginners.

The race was sponsored in 2009, for the third year, by Ultimate Outdoors in Skipton who provided prizes for the winners and others. This was the 20th Anniversary of the race, and it was great to see you all there on a beautiful February day!

• AS (Category A, Short) fell race - 5 miles, 1260' climb
• Start at 11.30, registration from 10.30

• Start from Wells Road, Ilkley (near Wells House, old Ilkley College) GR 115470
• £3.00 entry on the day only. But save time on the day, download an entry form here
• Age 16+
• Records: 35.31 Simon Bailey 2004; 43.48 Lucy Wright 1996
• FRA Safety Rule: Bring full FRA safety kit to the race (see the FRA Handbook/Calendar). As a minimum you must carry a windproof/waterproof top, but you may also have to carry waterproof bottoms, gloves, and hat depending on the conditions on the day. There may be kit checks.
• Prizes: trophies for 1st man, 1st lady, 1st local man and lady (1st-claim Ilkley Harrier). A very long prize list for other categories including 1st men's (4) team and 1st ladies (3) team (bona fide clubs).
• Cancellation: in the event of severe weather or other circumstances forcing cancellation, this will be notified here, and local clubs will be advised.
