We all remember Cross-Country from our school days - it's brilliant fun splashing about in all that water and mud and being allowed to get away with it. We actively encourage this sort of behaviour!
Local Primary School races are suitable for all children from Year 1 to Year 6, We set up and coordinate the Wharfedale Primary Schools League competition for years 3 to 6 based on the results from locally organised School events. Peco XC League races are suitable for all abilities.
In 2009/2010 there are two junior Challenge races: 8-10 yrs at 10am, 1
mile and 11 to 16 yrs at 10.20, 2 miles. Age category based on age on
8/11/09. Complete Runner League races (old West Yorkshire League) are more suitable for the slightly better runner and children over the age of 11 years (Year 7). However there is an U11 (Years 5 and 6) distance race at each of the four events. We have individuals and teams represented in the Yorkshire, Northern and National Cross-Country Championships each season. X-C Programme 2009/2010
Terrain races/Fun Runsare quite similar to Cross-Country and where there are local suitable races we will encourage children ( along with mums and dads) to take part in these. |
